About
The Civil Engineering Department has been in existence since the establishment of this institute. The department has an excellent infrastructure and is AICTE approved and accredited by the National Board of Accreditation. Apart from the Undergraduate course, Postgraduate courses are offered in the Construction Management, Geotechnical Engineering, Hydraulic Engineering (part time) and Environmental Engineering (full time). Efforts are on to begin PG courses in Transportation Engineering and Construction Management on a full time basis. A few students are also pursuing doctoral programmes.

The Civil engineering department laboratories have received non-recurring grants from MHRD/AICTE under MODROB and TAPTEC schemes. The department also has a computer centre having 42 terminals with audio-visual facilities. There are several licensed software’s related to Civil Engineering.
Testing and Consultancy
The major areas of consultancy assignments are Geotechnical, transportation, Environmental and Structural engineering. The revenue generated through consultancy and testing has been about Rs. 75 lakhs per year. It is intended to enhance consultancy services in areas of specialization. The faculty has around 170 publications in national and international journals and conferences - an indication of interest and inclination towards research activities. The department aims to initiate more R&D activities by participating in research schemes of AICTE, DST, UGC and related organizations. Civil Engineering projects done by students also contribute to research.
